Wharehuanuiย Trailย โ€“ย Arthurs Point to Arrowtown

Distance: 13km one way (2-3 hours)

Brand spanking new, thisย trailย only just opened in October 2024. Be some of the very first people in the world to bike this countrysideย trail in Queenstown!

Wharehuanui is an easy (Grade 2) track connecting Arthurs Point and Millbrook, forming a key link in the Queenstown Trails network. Starting near Gantleyโ€™s Tavern, it runs alongside Arthurs Point Road as it heads toward Coronet Peak.

A gentle climb up switchbacks rewards you with stunning views of the Wakatipu Basin, including the Remarkables, Crown Range, and Walter Peak. The trail winds through Coronet Peakโ€™s foothills, connecting with popular mountain biking tracks like Hot Rod and the Dan Oโ€™Connell Climb.

After a short shared section on Coronet Peak Station Road, the trail descends to Mill Creek Reserve, a peaceful spot ideal for family walks and picnics. It then passes through Millbrook Resort, where it links to the Countryside Trail, offering routes to Arrowtown or Lake Hayes.

Twin Riversย Trail–ย Frankton to Arrowtown

Distance: 18.5km one way (2-3 hours)

If you’re staying in Arrowtown, we recommend starting in Frankton for this ride so that you finish up at your villa!

The Twin Rivers Trail begins at Kawarau Falls Bridge in Frankton, connecting to the scenic trail alongside the Kawarau River. Follow the willow-lined banks towards the Shotover Delta, where the Shotover River meets the Kawarau. As you approach the restored Old Lower Shotover Bridge, enjoy stunning views up to Coronet Peak.

After crossing the bridge, the trail follows the Shotover River offering beautiful river views at every turn. Before reaching Billieโ€™s Bridge, there’s a peaceful picnic spot by Hayes Creek.

Climb Thompsonโ€™s Hill for panoramic views of the Kawarau River and the Remarkables Mountains, then enjoy the descent through pastoral land. The trail ends at Morven Ferry Road, where you can link on to the Arrow River Bridges Trail to carry on to Arrowtown or further afield.

We can arrange transport to make this super easy – collecting you from your door and taking you directly to the trailhead in Frankton. Alternatively, you can ride this in reverse and hop on the local bus back from Queenstown to Arrowtown with your bikes.

Relax in style at Villa Francesca in Arrowtown. Situated just across from Millbrook Golf Resort, this property sleeps up to 10 making it a great option for families and groups looking to enjoy the region and all that it has to offer.
