The Marlborough – Boutique Hotel

Set among 16 acres of established gardens and working vineyard in the heart of Marlborough wine country, this historic boutique hotel blends Victorian heritage with contemporary comfort. Built in 1901 as a convent for the Sisters of Mercy, it has been carefully restored. Now, the hotel features ten elegant guest rooms over two floors.

Just a short drive from Blenheim airport and about 15 minutes from town, the parkland setting feels secluded and peaceful. On site, guests can enjoy a seasonal outdoor pool. Moreover, they can use a tennis court, a library and lounge, and an outdoor fireplace in the gardens. In the evenings, guests begin at the intimate Chapel Bar. There, they can enjoy seasonal canapés and cocktails by the fire.

Each morning starts with a complimentary full breakfast at Harvest, the estate’s Hat-awarded restaurant. The menus follow the seasons and draw on the organic estate gardens and Marlborough’s finest growers. Dinner is à la carte and paired with Marlborough and New Zealand wines chosen with the Sommelier. For something more special, guests can join a Wine Appreciation Session with a walk through the vineyard. Alternatively, they can reserve the Secret Shack, a private creekside dinner with your own chef.

The ten rooms are individually designed, each with a king or queen bed, premium bedding, air conditioning and a spacious ensuite, and each sleeps two. Premium Rooms on the ground and first floors have their own layout and character. Meanwhile, Deluxe Rooms on the first floor overlook the gardens. The ground-floor Queen Rooms are cosy and stylish.

Beyond the estate, guests are close to vineyard tastings, cruises on the Marlborough Sounds, walks on the Queen Charlotte Track, and the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. The hotel is also available for exclusive use by groups of up to 20. This makes it ideal for retreats, family gatherings and small weddings.
