Each is calm and comfortable, and every bedroom has a sea or garden view. Resort-style features include a private swimming pool set among palms (heated from November to April), a spa pool, a full-size tennis court with its own courtside bar, and helicopter arrivals by arrangement. The living rooms and bedrooms all open onto generous outdoor areas, and at the heart of the property a magnificent pohutukawa gives gentle shade while you relax and take in the sea views.

You’ll find it hard to leave with so much to do on site. But if you do want to explore, everything is within easy reach: pristine beaches, forest tracks, world-class wineries, artisan local cuisine, galleries and a picturesque golf course. The Heke Brewery and Distillery, the Onetangi Valley wineries, Ostend Village and Oneroa Village are all close by.
