And just finally, why the name? Many years ago one farmer owned the land on the far side of the Tuki Tuki River and another, on the near side. Both wanted each other’s land to give them ownership on both sides. The deal was settled – over a game of Euchre. As a result Euchre lodge and farm is one of the few landownings in Hawke’s Bay where ownership extends under the river itself.
