The sense of arrival from the design of the dramatic lobby makes The Cooper Residence instantly awe-inspiring. As you transition through to the spacious kitchen and dining space, the scale of the property creates a sense of grandeur, yet throughout the property you will find unique intimate spaces that offer a haven to settle and indulge in comfort.
Architecturally, the property is modeled on a simple crucifix shape, with a long barn-inspired central area with a beautiful high-ceiling, flanked by two modern pavilions, one on each side. The feature piece of the design comes in the form of an elliptical “remnant tower” which connects the building to its history. The beautiful architecture of this property plays host to a significant collection of New Zealand artifacts and contemporary art and objects, and the internal stylings and finishes complement these pieces with natural earthy tones and textures to delight the senses. The Cooper Residence offers five luxury suites, each with a distinctive character and its own private en suite, sleeping up to 12 guests very comfortably.
The property is perfect for entertaining and offers abundant large spaces to come together – whether it is next to the open fireplace in the lounge, grabbing a book in the private library or enjoying the sunshine in the indoor or outdoor dining areas. At the Cooper Residence, guests will be hosted by their own personal chef, who will custom-design menus to suit their needs. Wherever possible, garden-to-plate produce is used, sourced from the extensive agricultural resources on hand at The Landing.
The Landing is a very historically significant location in New Zealand, as the first place of arrival for New Zealand’s earliest European settlers, and one of the first locations grapevines were planted and you won’t run out of things to do at this property! Stays at The Landing include in the rate: a personal chef for breakfast, dinner and a prepared lunch or picnic, wine tasting of The Landing wines (grown and made on site), a vineyard tour, kiwi-spotting tour, a site tour to visit the historically significant sites, a sightseeing boat tour (subject to availability) and daily servicing. There are also shared facilities on the property that include tennis and basketball courts, a gym, a steam room, mountain bikes, snorkelling gear, fishing equipment, kayaks and paddleboards and walking trails.
