What’s on in Queenstown and Wanaka for 2023

13th February 2023

The well-known Gibbston Valley Winery summer concert has been and gone this weekend. As per usual, it was packed with famous musicians, great vibes and sunshine!
Fear not, there is still plenty to keep you busy throughout Queenstown and Wanaka for the upcoming months.

As one of the South Islands largest and most popular A&P shows, this should definitely be in your calendar.

Head on over to Wanaka from March 10-11 for your fix of equestrian and livestock events, shopping, family fun and more.

For one day of the year, the exclusive private lodge Mahu Whenua opens an area of its land to the public – race participants of cyclists, runners and walkers will be taking part in the Motatapu Race.

With 80% of the entry fees providing support to the planting projects and carbon positive efforts at Glendhu Station, this off-road sporting event is more than just for fun.

March marks the month that quaint little Arrowtown becomes a mecca for golf enthusiasts from all over the country (and world).

With little introduction needed, the renowned NZ Golf Open is a premier men’s golf tournament – hosted at Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown.

Its going to be a tee-rific experience! (pun intended – we couldn’t help ourselves)

Home to the National Motorsport Museum & an international race circuit, this world class facility at Highlands Motorsport Park is just 45 minutes’ drive from Queenstown.

A great family day out – especially if visiting during April for the Festival of Speed.

Thrill seekers and motor lovers flock for two days of racing with an amazing selection of classic and historic vehicles.

Charitable trust ThreeParks hosts annual Easter events, alternating each year between Wheels at Wanaka and Wanaka War Birds Air Show.

2023 is the year for showcasing vintage vehicles and machinery! Step back in time to revel at steam engines, motor bikes & farming heritage vehicles.

With rally car demonstrations, parades and over 50 acres of land to host this event – you’ll be non-stop exploring the world of wheels.

As snow starts to hit the region, the ski fields ramp up their preparations ready to open later in the month. Before the craziness of ski season starts, make sure to holiday in Queenstown and experience the LUMA Southern Light Project.

The adventure capital lights up for the long weekend each June with awe inspiring art installations, dazzling lights and magical fairies for the kids to befriend.

LUMA sees thousands head to the Queenstown Botanical Gardens for an interactive, inspiring display of art, sculpture and light shows.

Buzzing with laughter and love, Winter Pride is an annual multi-day event hosted in and around Queenstown.

With a range of events from live music, drag & comedy, this cosmopolitan town really puts on a show to remember.

Dress to impress and join the fun!

Hosted at popular South Island ski fields, The Remarkables & Cardrona, this 14-day event is an athletic extravaganza.

The elite of New Zealand’s free riding and free style snow sports battle it out in competition.

Wrap up warm, enjoy the crisp weather… and maybe a little après ski too.

Cyclorama e-bike festival is the very first of its kind, being held in Arrowtown this spring.

Cycling in Otago is rising in popularity since the boom of e-bikes.

With tracks such as the Dunstan Cycle Trail, Queenstown Trail & Gibbston Valley Cycle Trail there is no wonder why!

Spend your Labour Weekend holiday soaking up the trails – curated to interests such as birdwatching, art, food and wine.
