No trip to NZ South Island is complete without a visit to the famous Milford Sound. There is a reason why everyone has heard of it! The steep green walls of the Fiord rise majestically from the dark sea, offering waterfalls of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps you might get very lucky and spot some wildlife, with the area playing host to dolphins, penguins, seals and very occasionally, whales. And there is no better way to access this environment than a scenic helicopter flight. This 2 hour adventure takes you to one of the region’s most stunning, remote spots –Earnslaw Burn. Flying over the Moonlight Saddle, over the Richardson Mountains, you will approach Mt Earnslaw and fly over the blue ice and hanging Glacier. Land within the natural amphitheatre of rock, surrounded by waterfalls in every direction, as the run off from the glacier falls over 1000m. Spend some time to take in the marvel. Next, you’ll jump back into the helicopter to fly across Lake Wakatipu towards the Humboldt Mountains, following the stunning Greenstone Valley back towards Mt Nicholas Station. Here you’ll land to take in views towards both Glenorchy and the Fiordland, before returning back to the Queenstown hangar.
Queenstown is renowned for combining anything with a heli flight to create a new activity, but there’s one combo in particular that stands out… Even if you’re not a super keen golfer, there is no denying how awesome this unique experience is. Fly, Drive and Putt your way to the world’s most scenic golf shot! Just a short flight will take you up to 4500ft high to the tee, which offers panoramic views back towards Queenstown. Don’t get too distracted though or you might go over par!
