Sample Local Produce at the Markets

14 January 2016

A visit to the Queenstown and Wanaka Lakes District in New Zealand is not complete without sampling the local produce and meeting the local artisan producers of Central Otago. The Remarkables Park Markets is held every summer Saturday until 26 March 2016 and is a must do if you are in Queenstown. Boasting local meats, fruits, backed goods and cheeses, you will certainly want to visit the markets on an empty stomach. With the Remarkables Mountain range as the backdrop, we challenge you to find a more picturesque marketplace in New Zealand.

On a recent visit to the markets we were delighted by figs and some incredible Elderflower cordial! As were the tomatoes and herbs. Local honey is fabulous and the coffee, ice-cream, food caravans and stalls will keep the hunger at bay until you get your gorgeous produce home to cook up a storm or throw together a delicious, simple summer salad. Really live like a local at your villa accommodation or holiday house.

Our tip: Take some of the amazing Otago stone fruit now in peak condition with you on car tours or beach visits to nibble on. It’s really all just so delicious!
