By March and April in Queenstown and Wanaka, the weather is much calmer and slightly cooler and there are beautiful clear days to be enjoyed. The leaves on the trees are turning orange and Central Otago looks post card perfect.

The autumn shoulder season is the perfect time to visit Queenstown and/or Wanaka in New Zealand’s South Island.

The weather is beautifully still in autumn so seize the opportunity and make the most of calm waters and calm skies. Around Queenstown and Wanaka the grand Lakes of Wakatipu and Wanaka, and the nearby picturesque fjords of Fiordland and Milford Sound are absolutely breath taking. The best way to explore these pristine environments is buy taking to the air or water. Akarua Arrowtown Autumn Festival - 19th-25th April 2018 

The culmination of all things fabulous in the area with the beautiful autumn season! This is a five day festival full of markets, concerts, childrens’ shows, art exhibitions, arts & crafts and so much more.

Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow - 30th March–1st April 2018 

This iconic event held every two years in Wanaka has now been running for over thirty years, so it must be good!

You’ll see extraordinary flying acts with famous military fighter aircraft throughout the last 100 years and some more modern jets as well – all set in one of the world’s most stunning airshow location in the world!

When you’re not looking to the skies, you can check out the sport aircraft, warhorses, vintage machinery and vintage tractors, regional wines, market and food stalls, home-built aircraft workshops, aircraft for sale and aviation trade stands.

A fun day out for the whole family!
