Pen-y-bryn Lodge, Oamaru Luxury Accommodation

41 Towey Street, Holmes Hill

Pen-y-bryn Lodge was built as a private residence in 1889 by the famed architectural firm of Forrester & Lemon for local businessman John Bulleid and his wife. Pen-y-bryn is Welsh for “Top of the Hill” and indeed the house sits atop South Hill, one of Oamaru’s most sought-after districts. Reputed to be the largest single-storey timber dwelling in Australasia, the house has kept true to its Victorian heritage and today offers discerning guests the perfect combination of old world elegance and modern amenities.

When you arrive at Pen-y-bryn, you will be welcomed at your car and offered assistance with your belongings into your guest room. Once you are settled in, you will be offered a beverage and a tour of the lodge. If you are dining on-site, you will be asked to confirm your preferred dining time and to schedule your pre-dinner canapé service. Breakfast service normally commences at 8am but can be tailored to suit your needs.

During your stay, you will have full use of all facilities in the lodge, free and unlimited ultra-fast broadband internet access and complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee. We also offer laundry services and assistance with booking tours, activities and massage treatments, along with a host of other services.
